I’m excited to announce that this site is now an award winning travel website! On Saturday, June 7, 2025 Carryonqueen.com was awarded second place for Best Self-Published Travel Website at the TMAC 2025 National Awards in Saskatoon.
When I launched CarryOnQueen.com in 2018 it was a passion project. A place to take what I knew about marketing and build a second brand around travel content creation aimed at the 50+ adventure traveler. Travel writing is something I had long enjoyed as a freelancer in traditional print media, and although I had a vision for CarryOnQueen.com at the time, it functioned in a silo, away from my identity as a marketing strategist and speaker at Fiveminutemarketing.com.
While I’ve subsequently found opportunity at the intersection of the two brands, working in travel marketing post-pandemic, and continuing to build out a deep bank of travel writing content on CarryOnQueen.com, the fact remained that I was still much less known in journalism circles.
That is why being one of five finalist in the “Best Self-Published Travel Website” category for the TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada) 2025 National Awards was so meaningful to me. Taking second place was both both a surprise and an honour. But more than anything, it was validating. Yes, I can now say this is an award winning travel website!
TMAC’s annual awards program celebrates excellence in travel journalism, shining a spotlight on the outstanding work of its accredited Canadian members across 13 National Categories and six Membership and Chapter categories.
